Strategy Sells $104.7M in Bitcoin to Fund Dividend Payments and Share Buybacks
Strategy, the world's largest institutional holder of Bitcoin (BTC), has made its second-largest BTC sale this year. The company sold 1,638 BTC between July 27 and August 2, 2026, for an average price of $63,957. This sale was worth a total of $104.7 million.
The funds raised from the sale will be used to fund dividend payments and repurchase its STRC preferred shares. Strategy also raised $290.6 million through stock sales, boosting its U.S. dollar reserve to $4 billion.
This sale underscores a shift in Strategy's capital management as it increasingly taps its BTC holdings to support obligations tied to its preferred securities. In June 2026, the company unveiled a new capital framework that authorizes future BTC sales for building U.S. dollar reserves and meeting interest obligations.
