Strategy Sells 1,637 Bitcoin, Reduces Holdings Amid $8.3 Billion Loss

MicroStrategy, now rebranded as Strategy, has made another move in its Bitcoin holdings. The company sold 1,637 BTC, reducing its total to 842,138 units. This sale is part of a larger pattern that's worth paying attention to, especially when considering the company's $8.32 billion loss on digital asset positions.

Strategy has been buying and selling Bitcoin throughout 2026, with net purchases totaling around 25% more than its initial holdings since the start of the year. As of July 6, Strategy reported holding approximately 843,775 BTC at a cumulative average purchase price of $66,384.56 per coin.

The company's digital asset position is significant, with its holdings surpassing those of some notable Bitcoin exchange-traded funds. When tracking Strategy's stock, investors should keep an eye on the gap between this average acquisition cost and Bitcoin's current market price. If prices fall below $66,384.56, each additional sale will lock in a realized loss.
