Strategy Sells 1,638 BTC Amid Shift in Accumulation Strategy
Strategy, a prominent corporate holder of Bitcoin, has made headlines after selling 1,638 BTC for approximately $105 million. This sale marks six consecutive weeks without any new Bitcoin purchases and represents a significant shift in Strategy's accumulation strategy.
The company sold the Bitcoins at an average price of around $64,000 each, which is below its aggregate average purchase price of $75,419 per coin. As a result, Strategy is realizing losses relative to its cost basis on each coin sold.
Despite offloading a portion of its reserves and sitting on a reported $10.9 billion paper loss, Strategy remains one of the largest corporate holders of Bitcoin globally. The latest sale represents a small fraction of its total portfolio and follows previous sales in May and June 2026.
