Strategy Sells $395 Million in BTC, MSTR to Repay STRC Debt and Expand Cash Reserve
Strategy has sold $395 million worth of Bitcoin and MSTR stock to raise capital for its treasury. The company used this money to repurchase STRC shares, which have been trading at a discount, and expand its cash reserve to $4 billion.
The sale of 1,638 BTC and the issuance of about 3.01 million MSTR common shares raised nearly $395 million. Strategy did not use any of this capital to buy more Bitcoin but instead directed it toward preferred dividends, STRC share repurchases, and expanding its cash reserve.
According to Strategy's President and CEO Phong Le, buying back STRC shares below par allows the company to retire future dividend obligations at a discount while strengthening demand as the shares move toward $100. The company aims to return STRC to par by September, which would restore an important financing channel for its treasury.
