Strategy Shifts Bitcoin Strategy, Emphasizing Financial Flexibility
Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, has announced a significant shift in its Bitcoin management strategy. The company will no longer allocate all new capital to purchasing BTC, and instead will divide future funding between buying more Bitcoin and building US dollar reserves.
The revised framework marks a departure from Strategy's long-standing approach of deploying excess capital into Bitcoin. Since 2020, the company has focused on accumulating Bitcoin, with Executive Chairman Michael Saylor stating that it would 'buy and hold' the digital asset for the long term.
Under the new policy, management will allocate proceeds from future capital raises dynamically based on market conditions, liquidity needs, and corporate obligations. This change is intended to strengthen financial flexibility after a period of market weakness and higher financing costs.
Despite this shift, Strategy remains the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder, with approximately 843,775 BTC on its balance sheet. The company has also accumulated several billion dollars in cash reserves, which will be used to support broader capital management initiatives.
