Strategy Slams $8 Billion Loss Due to Bitcoin Price Drop Below Cost Basis
Strategy's Q2 earnings report revealed an $8.22 billion unrealized net loss due to Bitcoin trading below its average cost basis of $75,476.
This massive loss far exceeded Wall Street projections of $2.15 billion and was attributed to economic downturns, geopolitical conflict, and lower product support revenues.
Despite this, Strategy's total Bitcoin holdings increased by 11% quarter-on-quarter to 843,775 BTC worth $54.64 billion at current market prices.
The company maintained its position as the leader among publicly traded Bitcoin treasuries, with a year-to-date BTC yield of 4.5% and gross BTC per share (BPS) value of $131.97, up 5% from the previous quarter.
