Strategy Suffers Massive Loss as Bitcoin Price Plunges Below Cost Basis
Strategy, a company that manages cryptocurrency investments, has reported an $8.22 billion unrealized net loss in its Q2 2026 earnings report.
The loss is due to the price of Bitcoin (BTC) trading at around $64,992, which is well below the average cost basis of $75,476 for Strategy's holdings.
This significant loss far exceeds Wall Street projections of a mere $2.15 billion in unrealized losses.
The company attributes this massive loss to various headwinds such as economic downturns and geopolitical conflict during the second quarter.
