Michael Saylor's company, Strategy, has made another significant investment in Bitcoin. On August 31, Strategy acquired 4,603 BTC at an average price of $80,318 per coin, bringing its total holdings to 845,050 BTC. This purchase represents nearly $370 million in fresh bitcoin buying and reinforces Strategy's position as the largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin.
The acquisition was announced on X by Saylor, who also revealed that Strategy has increased its U.S. dollar cash position by $29 million and repurchased $152 million of STRC, one of the preferred securities used in the company's complex capital structure.
This transaction is part of a larger strategy that began in August 2020 when Strategy first purchased 21,454 BTC at an average price of $11,210 per coin. Since then, the company has steadily increased its Bitcoin holdings through additional purchases and repurchases of STRC.
