Strategy Taps 'Bitcoin Drive' After $8.2 Billion Quarterly Loss

Strategy, the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder, has responded to an $8.2 billion loss on its balance sheet with a trademark bullish message from chairman Michael Saylor.

Saylor posted 'Bitcoin Drive engaged' on Twitter immediately after Strategy published its financial report for the second quarter of 2026, which showed a net loss of $8.22 billion.

The loss was entirely due to paper-based losses as Bitcoin fell 14% over the three-month period from $68,000 to $58,600. This resulted in a massive accounting loss on Strategy's assets, with its unrealized loss exceeding $10 billion.

Strategy currently controls an impressive 843,775 BTC, representing more than 4% of Bitcoin's total maximum supply, and has an average purchase price of $75,653 per coin. With the current market price near $63,061, this puts Strategy in a difficult financial position.
