Strategy to Resume Bitcoin Buying After Short-Term Sales
Strategy CEO Phong Le has confirmed that the company will resume buying Bitcoin later this year. Despite selling four times since May, Strategy still holds a substantial amount of BTC, having acquired around 175,000 coins while selling only about 7,000. This represents a significant buy-to-sell ratio of approximately 25:1.
The sales have drawn attention due to their departure from the company's long-standing 'never sell' posture under chairman Michael Saylor. However, Le maintains that these transactions are part of short-term balance-sheet management and not a sign of waning confidence in Bitcoin. The proceeds from the sales have been used for preferred stock dividends, buybacks of STRC shares, and building up the U.S. dollar reserve.
The dollar reserve has grown to an all-time high of $4.65 billion since August 2026, with a fivefold increase over ten weeks. This buildup is part of Strategy's capital-management push, which includes equity issuance and bitcoin sales. The company aims to return to net accumulation once this process winds down.
