Strategy to Resume Bitcoin Buying Later This Year
Strategy CEO Phong Le announced that his company will resume buying Bitcoin later this year. This decision comes despite selling four times since May, with a total of around 7,000 BTC sold against 175,000 bought, resulting in a 25-to-1 buy-to-sell ratio.
The sales have raised scrutiny due to Strategy's departure from its 'never sell' posture under chairman Michael Saylor. The company has sold Bitcoin at an average price of $64,262, below its own cost basis of $75,385 per coin.
Strategy now holds 840,447 BTC, acquired for a total cost near $63.36 billion. Le's comments indicate that the sales were executed as part of balance-sheet management, with proceeds going toward preferred stock dividends, buybacks of STRC shares, and building up a U.S. dollar reserve.
