Strategy Touted as 'JPMorgan of Crypto' Amid Volatility Concerns
Michael Saylor has called Strategy 'the JPMorgan of the crypto economy', comparing its market influence to Wall Street's largest bank. This comes weeks after JPMorgan warned that Strategy's bitcoin sales policy could rattle the market.
Strategy currently holds 842,138 BTC as of August 2, following its third 2026 sale. Its underlying numbers support at least the scale argument, given it has bought around $13.7 billion worth of bitcoin so far this year, close to 70 percent of JPMorgan's estimate for total net digital asset inflows industrywide.
JPMorgan analysts project that Strategy could buy around $32 billion in bitcoin over all of 2026, a figure that would make it the largest single buyer of the cryptocurrency. Saylor has publicly disputed the idea that Strategy is under pressure to sell, rejecting reports that the company had approved a new $5 billion bitcoin sale plan.
The company's second-quarter 2026 results have seen it swing from a $14 billion profit to an $8.2 billion loss even as its bitcoin holdings grew. Saylor has said Strategy expects to remain a net bitcoin buyer over time and has stressed he has never personally sold a single satoshi of his own holdings.
