Strategy Transfers $66M in BTC While Holdings Remain Unchanged
Strategy, a company led by Michael Saylor, has made another large transfer of Bitcoin (BTC). This time, $66 million worth of BTC was moved from its wallets without any change in holdings. The transaction occurred around two hours ago and adds to a series of recent treasury-related Bitcoin movements involving the company's wallets.
The latest transfer follows Strategy's balance sheet changes disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Between July 28 and Aug. 2, the company sold 1,638 BTC, earning $104.73 million in net proceeds. After selling, Strategy's holdings of BTC fell to 842,138 BTC purchased for $63.51 billion at an average cost of $75,419 per Bitcoin.
Strategy has been actively managing its treasury and adjusting its Bitcoin holdings. In addition to selling Bitcoin, the company earned $290.6 million by offering Class A common shares under its at-the-market equity program. This allowed Strategy to raise $250 million for its U.S. dollar reserve, increasing its total cash holdings to nearly $4 billion.
Despite the large transfer, neither Strategy nor Michael Saylor made any public statement on the reasons behind the deal. Such transactions of corporations with Bitcoin usually represent changes in custody, treasury management, collateral movements, or internal restructuring instead of liquidation.
