Strategy Unfazed by Market Sentiment: $53B Bitcoin Treasury Q&A
Strategy Inc., formerly known as MicroStrategy, hosted a live investor Q&A session on August 17 to discuss its $53 billion Bitcoin treasury. The company's executives, Michael Saylor and Phong Le, emphasized that no questions were off-limits during the session.
The firm holds approximately 840,447 BTC, which is roughly 4% of all Bitcoin that will ever exist. Strategy funds its Bitcoin acquisitions through a combination of operational cash flow and capital market instruments, including various securities designed to give investors economic exposure to Bitcoin.
Since rebranding from MicroStrategy to Strategy in February 2025, the company has continued to aggressively accumulate BTC, growing its position from a few hundred million dollars to over $53 billion. This accumulation strategy has been a key focus for Saylor since the company first bought Bitcoin in August 2020.
Strategy's stock often trades at a premium or discount to its net asset value based on Bitcoin's price, creating a dynamic where shareholders are betting not only on Bitcoin itself but also on how Strategy manages its Bitcoin and structures its financing.
