Strategy Unloads 1,638 BTC for $104.7M Amid Ongoing Bitcoin Holdings
Strategy, a company known for its significant Bitcoin holdings, has sold 1,638 BTC between July 27 and August 3. This transaction marks their second-largest sale of 2026 by volume, with an average price of $63,957 per unit. The total proceeds from the sale were $104.7 million, which was allocated to cover dividend payments on its STRC preferred stock ($52.4 million) and repurchase that same instrument ($52.3 million). Strategy currently holds 842,138 BTC, acquired at an aggregate cost of $63.5 billion.
Separately, Strategy raised $290.6 million through the sale of MSTR shares during the same period. Of this total, $250 million boosted its dollar reserve to $4 billion by Sunday's close, while $28.9 million funded additional STRC repurchases and $11.7 million was added to the cash balance.
Founder and chairman Michael Saylor stated that the company repurchased $81.2 million in STRC shares and extended its dollar runway by 57 days, to 2.3 years. STRC was trading at $89.40 on Monday, 10.6% below its target value of $100. This gap could limit Strategy's ability to finance future Bitcoin purchases through new STRC issuances.
