Strategy Unveils New Cash Reserve to Fuel Bitcoin Investments
Strategy Skips Bitcoin Buy in Favor of Building Cash Reserve
The company, Strategy, has taken an unusual approach to managing its funds by establishing a new cash reserve that it will use to buy Bitcoin. This move comes after the company had been focusing on stock buy-backs and creating a buffer against market fluctuations.
In a recent filing, Strategy revealed that it increased its typical cash buffer to $5.1 billion and created an additional pot of $1.59 billion, which can be used to buy Bitcoin and stocks. This is a departure from its previous strategy, as the company had not bought Bitcoin since June.
Strategy's decision to build up its cash reserve may indicate that it sees value in having a readily available source of funds to invest in Bitcoin. The company currently holds approximately 4% of the total BTC supply and has zero net leverage. It's unclear what prompted this shift, but Michael Saylor, Strategy's CEO, has been an outspoken proponent of Bitcoin adoption.
