Strategy's Bitcoin Holdings Take $8.2 Billion Hit Under Fair-Value Accounting
Strategy, the world's largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, posted an $8.2 billion net loss in Q2 2026 due to a decline in the cryptocurrency's price.
The company reported a 25% growth in its Bitcoin holdings during 2026 but was unable to offset the losses from fair-value accounting, which requires companies to mark digital assets to market each reporting period.
Strategy ended Q2 with 843,775 Bitcoins valued at $54.8 billion and a cumulative acquisition cost of $63.7 billion.
