Strategy's Flawed Prediction: MSTR Stock Won't Outshine BTC
Strategy (MSTR) CEO Phong Le believes that his company's stock will outperform Bitcoin during the next bull market. However, this prediction is based on a flawed assumption, according to The Motley Fool.
Two years ago, Strategy was the talk of the stock market due to its aggressive strategy of accumulating Bitcoin. At one point, Executive Chairman Michael Saylor even suggested that investors might want to mortgage their homes or sell other financial assets to buy more Bitcoin. He also joked about selling a kidney to buy more.
However, in a surprising move, Strategy has recently introduced a new strategy of 'Sometimes sell your Bitcoin.' This change in approach is causing concern among investors and analysts, who fear that it may lead to unrealized losses turning into realized losses.
The Motley Fool points out that other companies have already been forced to rethink their Bitcoin treasury company business models due to significant losses. For example, Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) reported a $190 million loss on its crypto position, while Twenty One Capital (XXI) lost $414 million.
According to The Motley Fool, it's unlikely that Strategy or other Bitcoin treasury companies will outperform Bitcoin during the next bull market. Instead, the author suggests that other companies, such as Bitcoin miners who are pivoting to artificial intelligence (AI), may be better positioned for success.
