Strategy's ₿igger Post Sparks Acquisition Speculation
Strategy co-founder Michael Saylor sparked attention on social media by posting 'Think Even ₿igger' on X, signaling that the company may be planning an acquisition. The post came after Strategy revealed it had bought 13,927 BTC between April 6 and 12 at an average price of $71,902 per coin, totaling $1 billion.
The company holds a massive 780,897 BTC, worth approximately $58.2 billion, making it the largest corporate Bitcoin holder among publicly traded companies, according to Bitbo. Strategy buys BTC on a near-weekly basis and has filed to adjust its dividend payment schedule to semi-monthly.
Strategy CEO Phong Le explained that the change is intended to stabilize the stock price, reduce cyclical demand swings, improve liquidity, and grow overall demand for shares. The new dividend schedule would pay 24 times per year at the current rate of 11.5%, with payments made on the 15th and last day of each month.
Strategy's MSTR stock rose 11.8% on Friday to $166.52, though it remains down more than 47% over the past year, according to Google Finance. The company also reported $14.46 billion in unrealized losses on its digital asset holdings in its first-quarter financial results earlier this month.
