STRC Preferred Stock Linked to Mid-Month Bitcoin Buying Spikes
K33 Research has identified a pattern in Bitcoin's price action that may be linked to Strategy's STRC preferred stock.
The research firm found that Strategy's perpetual preferred stock, STRC, is likely behind the mid-month Bitcoin buying spikes observed in March and April of this year.
Vetle Lunde, head of research at K33, outlined the mechanism: STRC distributes dividends on the last day of each month, but eligibility for those payouts is determined by the ex-dividend date on the 15th.
This structure creates a predictable window of heightened investor demand in the days leading up to the cut-off each month. Strategy issues new STRC shares through its at-the-market program whenever the stock trades at or above its $100 par value, and uses those proceeds to buy BTC.
