Stripe Snaps Up OpenRouter for $7 Billion in AI Infrastructure Play

Share

Alex Atallah founded OpenSea in 2017 to address the lack of user-friendly front-end trading portals in the crypto industry.

When the industry downturn arrived, Atallah saw an opportunity to build a unified front-end portal for AI models and founded OpenRouter, dubbed the 'Stripe for AI.'

OpenRouter aggregates trades for unique digital collectibles and has completed a $113 million Series B financing round in May this year with a post-money valuation of $1.3 billion.

Stripe has acquired OpenRouter for over $7 billion, quintupling its valuation.
