Stuck in Neutral: Bitcoin Consolidation Period Sparks Doubt Among Investors

Bitcoin has been hovering around the $80,000 mark for some time, but its next move remains unclear. The asset's price is stuck in a consolidation period, and market participants are uncertain about what to do.

Data from CryptoQuant shows that Bitcoin OGs (holders who have kept their assets for more than five years) have increased spending activity, with 1,500 BTC spent over the past 90 days. This suggests that some long-term investors may be taking profits, which could indicate selling pressure and weakened conviction.

Pseudonymous senior market analyst Darkfost attributes the recent rally to 'doubt across nearly every type of investor, even the most seasoned ones like the OGs.' Other factors, such as the recent Coldcard hack, may have also contributed to the move.

Long-Term Holders (LTH) analysis reveals that a majority of the sell pressure came between August 19 and 25. However, since its peak on August 25, LTH Binary Coin Days Destroyed has dropped significantly, suggesting growing calm among these holders.
