Students Prefer Social Media to Schools for Crypto Education

Share

A recent survey by OKX found that US college students want their schools to teach crypto and blockchain, but most are turning to social media for education instead. The poll of 500 students and 500 parents showed that 90% of students and 87% of parents supported teaching these subjects in college.

Of the students surveyed, 27% said instruction should be mandatory, while about 28% of universities with accredited business schools offer blockchain courses as part of their curriculum. However, when it comes to finding information on crypto, social media influencers and platforms were the leading source for 33% of students, far surpassing schools and professors.

Among parents, crypto platforms and apps were the primary source of information at 21%. The survey was conducted through Pollfish, an online platform that distributes surveys to users of third-party mobile apps. OKX did not disclose the survey's weighting, margin of error or respondents' crypto ownership rates.
