Sui Bolsters Security with NIST-Approved Quantum-Resistant Signatures

Share

Sui blockchain is integrating two NIST-approved post-quantum signature schemes to enhance security. ML-DSA-65 will be used as a default protocol-level method for standard accounts, while SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s will be implemented in Move smart contracts for high-value asset vaults.

The integration is based on NIST's finalized post-quantum cryptography standards released in August 2024. This move aims to address the long-term vulnerability posed by quantum computers, which could potentially break current cryptographic algorithms like ECDSA.

Sui users will have the option to generate new quantum-resistant keys from their existing recovery phrases without requiring a migration.
