Sui Targets 2027 Mainnet Rollout for Quantum-Safe Account Authentication

Share

Sui, a blockchain project, has announced plans to roll out native quantum-safe account authentication by 2027. The rollout will start with quantum-safe vaults on mainnet later this year and will be followed by native ML-DSA-65 accounts on testnet by the end of 2026.

The project's developers have chosen two NIST-approved post-quantum signature schemes, ML-DSA-65 and SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s, to protect against future quantum computing risks. The new authentication methods will be optional for users, who can continue to use their existing recovery phrases and wallet addresses.

According to Sui's announcement, the network has completed its core implementation of the new algorithms and is currently undergoing independent security audits. The rollout will follow a similar deployment model as previous upgrades, such as zkLogin and passkeys, where existing accounts and applications will continue to operate without modification.
