Sui's Stablecoin Supply Plateaus Amid Record-Breaking Transfer Volume

Sui's on-chain stablecoin supply has hovered around $500 million for several months, according to Defillama. This is despite a significant drop from its peak of $1.6 billion in May 2025, representing a decline of approximately 69%. The network has seen heavy usage of its zero-fee transfer rails, with over $65 billion processed since June 10.

The feature, which dropped stablecoin transfer fees to zero and removed the requirement for native SUI tokens to move funds, has driven tens of billions of dollars in fee-free transfers. This is a testament to Mysten Labs' efforts to simplify stablecoin infrastructure and position Sui as an alternative to legacy payment rails.

While the network's transaction volume has topped $2.27 trillion since early 2024, the stablecoin supply remains steady. Security firm CertiK tracked the $65 billion figure but did not disclose a breakdown of which stablecoins or counterparties made up the volume.
