Supreme Court Deals Final Blow to Trump's E. Jean Carroll Appeal
President Donald Trump suffered another legal setback after the Supreme Court rejected his request to reconsider its earlier decision not to hear his challenge to E. Jean Carroll's $5 million civil verdict.
The justices declined to rehear Trump's case without explanation or any noted dissent, ending his effort to overturn the 2023 jury verdict that found him liable for sexually abusing and defaming Carroll, a former magazine writer.
Carroll's attorney Roberta Kaplan welcomed Monday's decision, saying, 'The jury's unanimous verdict that Donald Trump sexually assaulted and then defamed E. Jean Carroll is now final and cannot be challenged in any court.'
Trump's legal team, meanwhile, dismissed the case as a politically motivated 'travesty' and said the president would continue fighting what it called 'Liberal Lawfare.'
