Swedish Banks Build Up Strategy Holdings for Bitcoin Exposure
SEB Bank has increased its stake in Strategy Inc., formerly known as MicroStrategy, to 53,837 shares worth approximately $5.28 million.
This represents a roughly 1% increase over its prior holdings and puts SEB's position at about 0.01% of the company's total outstanding shares.
SEB is not the only Scandinavian financial institution adding to its Strategy holdings; Swedbank AB, another major Swedish bank, reported holding 90,590 MSTR shares as of its most recent disclosure.
The appeal of buying MSTR shares for institutions lies in gaining Bitcoin exposure without the complexities associated with direct custody and regulatory ambiguity around holding crypto on a bank balance sheet.
