Swiss Bitcoin Pay Halted After Suspected Data Breach

Swiss Bitcoin Pay, a Neuchâtel-based Bitcoin payment processor, has temporarily shut down its servers following a suspected data breach. The company, which operates as a licensed Financial Intermediary in Switzerland, provides merchants with tools to accept Bitcoin payments through both on-chain transactions and the Lightning Network.

No customer funds or private keys were reported at risk in the suspected breach. Swiss Bitcoin Pay's core architecture is non-custodial, meaning payments flow directly to merchants' personal wallets rather than sitting in the company's accounts.

The incident marks a second data exposure in the Swiss crypto ecosystem this year, following an August 2026 data breach at Pocket Bitcoin that affected 5,411 customers. Like the Pocket Bitcoin case, no customer funds were reported at risk in the Swiss Bitcoin Pay situation.
