Swiss Bitcoin Pay Halted by Suspected System Breach
Swiss Bitcoin Pay, a Switzerland-based Bitcoin payment processor, has taken its servers fully offline after detecting a suspected unauthorized access incident affecting its internal systems.
The company disclosed that customer contact, financial, and transaction information may have been exposed, including email addresses, Bitcoin addresses, IBANs, transaction histories, and hashed passwords. The firm emphasized that its non-custodial payment model keeps customer funds separate from the compromised infrastructure, meaning no Bitcoin losses have been identified.
The number of affected accounts, the breach timeline, and the attack vector remain unconfirmed. Security analysts warn that the combination of email addresses and transaction records could enable highly targeted phishing campaigns.
