Swiss Bitcoin Pay Halts Services After Suspected Internal Breach
Swiss Bitcoin Pay, a Neuchâtel-based non-custodial Bitcoin payment processor, has taken its servers offline after detecting a potential internal breach. The company suspects that a malicious user may have accessed customer data, including email addresses, Bitcoin addresses, and IBANs.
According to Swiss Bitcoin Pay's X post, the attackers could also have seen transaction history and hashed passwords. However, it is unclear whether any other sensitive information was compromised.
The company assures users that their funds are safe and will be fully returned in case of any outstanding payments. Payments on the platform go directly to merchants' wallets, eliminating any risk of a hack affecting user balances.
Swiss Bitcoin Pay is still investigating the incident and has not provided an estimated reopening date for its services. The company's priority is ensuring the security of its infrastructure before restoring operations.
