Swiss Crypto Service Provider Pocket Bitcoin Experiences Data Breach
Pocket Bitcoin, a Swiss financial services provider specializing in Bitcoin transactions, has disclosed a significant data breach that occurred in August. The incident affected over 5,400 customers, exposing sensitive information including names, addresses, and bank transfer details.
The breach originated from bank correspondence within the support system, not from the main databases. Pocket Bitcoin clarified that while personal and financial data was exposed, the breach did not compromise customer transaction databases or private keys, indicating that Bitcoin holdings remained secure.
Pocket Bitcoin has reported the incident to data protection authorities in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, but currently, there is no evidence that the leaked data has been misused.
