SwissBorg Defies Regulators with Zcash and Litecoin Listing
The European market has seen a surprise expansion of listings by Swiss crypto platform SwissBorg, which added support for Litecoin (LTC) and Zcash (ZEC). This move came as a surprise given that regulators have been cracking down on privacy coins in the region. The company cited a surge in customer searches as the reason for adding these assets to their platform.
According to SwissBorg, users can now instantly exchange both LTC and ZEC for 12 fiat currencies and over 400 other tokens. This integration is particularly notable given that it was done with transparent addresses, which allows the company to comply with current financial monitoring requirements.
However, this move may seem bold, but it's actually a pragmatic legal calculation made by SwissBorg. The company has until July 10, 2027, before Article 79 of the EU's new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR) takes effect, effectively closing off Zcash's access to Europe's regulated exchange sector.
The listing of LTC and ZEC coincided with a strong resurgence in Zcash prices. Against a backdrop of short liquidations, the coin rallied parabolically, gaining 45% in just one week and breaking through the psychological $1,000 mark.
