Symbiosis Recovers 15 BTC After Attacker Exploits Bitcoin Bridge
Symbiosis, a cross-chain liquidity protocol, has recovered approximately 15 BTC after an attacker exploited its Bitcoin Bridge on September 11.
The attacker minted roughly 46.1 billion unbacked syBTC through the affected bridge contract, but sold only around 4.39 WBTC for $336,000 through Uniswap v4 on Ethereum.
Symbiosis has halted its native Bitcoin Bridge and is working with security researchers to assess the final impact of the incident before providing further details.
The protocol has not disclosed a final loss figure, but says its accounting work is still underway as it contacts liquidity providers affected by the incident.
