Symbiotic Taps SocGen AM Vet to Lead Onchain Push
Symbiotic, the collateral markets platform backed by Paradigm, Pantera Capital, and Coinbase Ventures, has made a significant move in its push to draw institutional capital into onchain markets. The company has appointed Mahendran Nathan, former SocGen AM APAC chief executive, as its global head of onchain solutions.
Nathan, who took up the role in August, will be based in Singapore and lead the design of investment products for asset owners and allocators. He will also oversee capital formation and institutional coverage across the U.S., EMEA, and APAC.
At SocGen AM, Nathan scaled the platform from $300 million to $15 billion in assets under management over seven years, winning mandates from sovereign wealth funds, central banks, pension funds, and insurers. He joins Symbiotic as the company steps up its efforts to provide investment structures, governance, and reporting that institutional players need to participate in onchain markets.
Misha Putiatin, co-founder of Symbiotic, said Nathan's experience brings them closer to making institutional-scale onchain markets a reality. Nathan will work closely with the team to develop products and strategies that cater to the needs of asset owners and allocators.
