T Rowe Price's Crypto ETF Includes Dogecoin Amid Active Management Strategy
T. Rowe Price's actively managed multi-crypto spot ETF, TKNZ, has been making waves in the crypto market by including Dogecoin (DOGE) in its portfolio.
Launched in July, TKNZ stands out as the sector's first actively managed multi-token spot crypto ETF and holds around 60% of its assets in Bitcoin and Ethereum. However, a small portion, approximately 1.26%, is allocated to Dogecoin from the memecoin category.
In a statement, Blue Macellari, Head of Digital Assets at T. Rowe Price, explained that this approach is part of their active management strategy, which involves considering a broader segment of the crypto market rather than focusing solely on 'reputable' assets.
Macellari argued that a crypto asset should be considered if it demonstrates strong price momentum or can contribute to portfolio performance. He also noted that memecoin activity serves as an important stress test for blockchain networks, testing their scalability, low transaction costs, fast consensus, and reliability under high traffic.
