Takaichi Denies Involvement in Eponymous Crypto Token

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has denied any involvement with a cryptocurrency token bearing her name.

The controversy centered around a meeting between Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno's successor, Yoshihisa Kinoshita, and the project team behind the token. Kinoshita stated that he thought they were discussing app points, not cryptocurrency.

Japan is currently working on a framework to approve its Bitcoin funds by 2028.
