Takaichi Denies Involvement in 'Sanae Token' Cryptocurrency
Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has denied any involvement in a cryptocurrency named 'Sanae Token.'
Takaichi made this statement during an intensive deliberation in the House of Representatives budget committee on July 27, 2026.
'I did not approve of the issuance or trading of crypto assets, nor was I aware of it,' she said.
This denial comes amid allegations that Takaichi's chief public secretary, Tsuyoshi Kinoshita, was involved in the cryptocurrency's development through communications with Ken Matsui, who is reportedly responsible for the 'Sanae Token.'
