Tamarac Resident Falls Victim to $15K Bitcoin Scam

A resident in Tamarac, Florida lost $15,000 to a Bitcoin scam after receiving calls from someone claiming to represent the Federal Trade Commission. The victim was instructed to send money through Bitcoin.

The incident occurred on July 23, 2026 and was reported to the Broward County Sheriff's Office. This is not an isolated case as authorities have been dealing with various incidents from July 21 to July 27, 2026, including a residential burglary, credit card fraud, and identity theft.

On July 23, another resident reported losing $12,000 in a different fraud case, while on the same day, a package was stolen from a home. The following day, a vehicle was burglarized with an estimated loss of $50.
