$TAO Surges 18% in One Day Amid Bittensor Protocol Upgrades
The price of TAO has surged by 18% in just one day, reaching an intraday high near $277 and briefly pushing toward $270. This sudden increase comes as the Bittensor network enters a new phase of protocol changes, including upgrades to subnet emissions, staking, and root-network rewards.
The recent protocol releases have made significant adjustments to how capital moves through the network, with a focus on shifting rewards toward subnets attracting stronger market demand. The V440 Emission Gate introduced a demand threshold for subnet emissions, while other updates included changes to root staking, alpha accounting, and conviction-based subnet ownership.
The $TAO price action shows a decisive shift from the August consolidation, with the token climbing back to around $236 by September 5 before extending its move on September 6. The breakout above the descending trendline is supported by a sharp surge in trading activity, with CoinGlass data showing $868 million in 24-hour futures volume and open interest reaching $434.58 million.
The chart now points to $300 as the next major resistance area, with $260-$265 serving as the first area bulls need to defend after the breakout. If momentum carries $TAO through $300, the next major resistance zone sits around $325-$350.
