TapTools Axes Revival NFT Sale Amid Community Backlash and Hollow Apologies
Cardano-based analytics platform TapTools has abandoned its plans to bring back the service through an NFT sale after facing backlash from users. The team behind TapTools initially announced a 'Phase One' return on September 2, citing community support as a key factor in reviving the platform.
However, the plan quickly fell apart when thousands of users expressed their disappointment and frustration with the proposed NFT sale, which included 777 unique pieces priced at 777 ADA each. The move was widely criticized, with some labeling it 'dumb' and 'extractive.'
TapTools eventually acknowledged that they had 'got this one wrong,' admitting that they had misread the community's sentiment.
Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, took a subtle jab at TapTools by sharing a South Park parody clip of BP CEO Tony Hayward repeatedly saying 'we're sorry' after the Gulf oil spill. The move was seen as a commentary on hollow corporate apologies.
