TapTools' Relaunch Falters Amid Controversy Over NFT Requirement
TapTools, an analytics platform focused on Cardano (ADA), has sparked controversy after its relaunch. The platform initially announced its shutdown in June due to internal and financial difficulties, but later reversed its decision and returned with a new requirement for users.
The relaunched TapTools demanded that users mint an NFT for 777 ADA to access the platform's features, which had previously been offered free of charge. However, this move was met with strong backlash from the Cardano community, including criticism from founder Charles Hoskinson.
Hoskinson described the new version of TapTools as a 'vibe coded memeslop', stating that it no longer resembled the high-quality analytics website he once used daily. The platform's team later admitted that they had misjudged the timing and community sentiment, and subsequently removed the NFT requirement with an 'Under Construction' notice.
