Tariff Tensions and Rate Hints Drive Bitcoin Surge
Bitcoin continued its upward trajectory, closing out the week above $77,100 after gaining over 21%. The cryptocurrency market is eagerly awaiting Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at the Jackson Hole summit, which traditionally hints at future interest rate policy.
XRP was the top performer among cryptocurrencies, rising by 46% to just under $1.50. Other notable gains included Hyperliquid's HYPE (up 35%), Dogecoin (30%), and Ether (nearly 28%).
However, Asian stocks fell as Samsung Electronics dropped 8.7% after announcing plans to return up to $80 billion to shareholders, while Alibaba slipped 9.6% following a share sale announcement.
