Tech Giants Struggle Amid Weaker Cryptocurrency Market Conditions
Several major companies reported their second-quarter results this week, with mixed reactions from investors.
Rivian Automotive Inc's (NASDAQ:RIVN) earnings beat expectations, but shares fell over 6% as investors weigh the company's ongoing electric vehicle market pressures and profitability concerns. The EV maker reported an adjusted loss of $0.47 per share for the quarter, narrower than Wall Street expectations for a loss of roughly $0.65 per share.
Roblox Corp (NYSE:RBLX) shares fell nearly 30% to around $34 following the company's second-quarter results, as investors reacted to weaker monetization trends and a cautious outlook despite continued user growth. Roblox reported an adjusted loss of $0.26 per share for the quarter ended June 30, compared with analyst estimates calling for a loss of $0.34.
Strategy (NASDAQ:MSTR) shares fell 7% in pre-market trading after the company reported a wider-than-expected second-quarter loss, largely driven by unrealized losses on its Bitcoin holdings. The company reported a net loss of $8.22 billion, or $24.45 per diluted share, for the three months ended June 30.
Coinbase Global Inc (NASDAQ:COIN) shares fell around 9% in early trading following the company's second-quarter results, which missed Wall Street expectations as weaker cryptocurrency market conditions weighed on revenue and profitability. Coinbase reported Q2 revenue of $1.22 billion, below analyst estimates of $1.3 billion.
