Tech Titans Converge on North Carolina for G20 AI Regulation Meeting
The US is hosting a G20 tech meeting that's turning into a power summit for the tech industry. The two-day gathering in North Carolina on September 1 and 2 will feature prominent figures like Elon Musk, David Sacks, Jensen Huang, and Sam Altman speaking alongside government officials and international delegations.
The goal of the meeting is to build consensus among G20 nations around a non-binding regulatory framework for AI. The timing of this event, just months before President Trump hosts the G20 leaders' summit at his Doral, Florida golf club in December, suggests that Washington wants AI governance to be a key aspect of its G20 presidency.
The lineup and agenda for the meeting include virtual appearances from Musk, Sacks, and Dina Powell McCormick on day one. Day two will feature in-person talks from Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
