Telegram Debuts Native Gram Wallet and Rebrands Trading Hub
Telegram has launched its native non-custodial Gram Wallet and rebranded its 'Wallet in Telegram' trading hub as Walt. The wallet allows users to make instant peer-to-peer transactions within chats at zero fees, without requiring Know Your Customer (KYC) verification.
The wallet will operate as the default self-custodial service in the app's settings, while Walt will be accessible via the search bar. This rebranding is aimed at clearly separating the wallet and social space from the trading hub, catering to Europe's MiCA requirements.
As part of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov's initiative 'Make TON Great Again' (MTONGA), this move is a step towards turning the network into Telegram's primary application and financial layer. The MTONGA strategy includes seven steps, with the Gram Wallet rollout being one of them.
