Telegram's Crypto Upgrade Sends Toncoin Price Soaring
Telegram has launched a new crypto service in its app that is likely to change how traders interact with cryptocurrencies in 2025. The update enhances the messaging platform's integration into the crypto ecosystem, potentially boosting Telegram-based game tokens like Hamster Kombat.
The new update includes NFT gifting and third-party verification features, which will help combat scams and frauds on the platform. Users can now buy Telegram Stars directly in the app or through linking their TON wallets to the Fragment site.
Once users receive their Telegram stars, they can use them to send personalized gifts with custom backgrounds and icons. These gifts can later be minted as NFTs, which can then be traded on different platforms.
The new update also introduces emoji reactions, improved search filters for private chats, channels, and group discussions. The impact of the update is already visible in the crypto market's reaction to it, with Telegram's native token Toncoin (TON) jumping 5% in value within 24 hours.
