Templeton Joins Institutional Support for CLARITY Act
Franklin Templeton has joined a growing list of major financial institutions backing the CLARITY Act, which aims to provide regulatory clarity for cryptocurrencies in the US. This endorsement comes as lawmakers face a tight deadline to pass legislation before the August recess in Congress.
The bill needs bipartisan support to clear the Senate, where it faces an uncertain future despite having already passed the House of Representatives and received backing from several prominent banks, including BlackRock and Goldman Sachs.
The CLARITY Act would allocate regulation of digital assets between the SEC and CFTC, with the SEC responsible for securities and the CFTC for commodities. This framework aims to bring clarity to a previously uncertain space, allowing companies to better understand their regulatory obligations.
