Tempo Blasts Past $1B in Stablecoin Volume, Eyes $4B+ Annual Rate
Tempo, the blockchain incubated by Stripe and Paradigm, has achieved a significant milestone in its short lifespan. In just over five months since its mainnet launch on March 18, 2026, Tempo's cumulative stablecoin transfer volume has exceeded $1.2 billion.
This impressive feat translates to an annualized run rate of roughly $3.7 billion and is a testament to the chain's rapid growth. Weekly stablecoin transfer volume recently hit a record high of over $175 million in the week ending around August 11, 2026.
The bulk of this volume comes from enterprises using the chain for global payouts and payments workflows. Notable partners and users include Deel, Meta, DoorDash, Shopify, Visa, and Nubank.
Patrick Collison, co-founder of Stripe, acknowledged a stablecoin run rate of approximately $3 billion as far back as mid-June 2026. Tempo's innovative features, such as sub-second transaction finality and the ability to pay gas fees in stablecoins via its TIP-20 token standard, have contributed to its success.
The recent launch of Ondo's USDY on the network has also introduced yield-bearing assets to Tempo users. This allows them to earn interest on idle balances rather than letting them sit unproductive.
