Tenev Predicts Tokenization Supercycle as Trading Reaches $9 Billion
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev believes that tokenization is still in its early stages and will become a major trend, known as the 'tokenization supercycle.' He notes that on-chain tokenized equity trading has already reached $9 billion in 2026, with a growth rate of over 207% quarter-over-quarter and 800% year-to-date.
Tenev highlights several benefits of blockchain technology for American investors, including real-time settlement and 24/7 trading. He mentions that traditional exchanges rely on intermediaries to handle risks from execution to settling trades, while stock tokens can facilitate seamless transactions without the need for intermediaries.
Roger Tenev also emphasizes the importance of asset portability across financial services platforms and decentralized finance applications. Self-custody will allow investors more control over their assets, enabling them to lend and use them as collateral.
